所持有六，能持之命而得多名，此乃正答前外難也。無表依多，所依身、語色、聲處收，能依無表故法處攝；命根亦爾，名等類然；長等不然，故同色處。

That which is sustained is sixfold, while the life-faculty that sustains it obtains many names; this is the direct answer to the previous objection from external opponents. Avijñapti depends on many, and its bases—body and speech—are subsumed under the āyatanas of form and sound, while avijñapti, as that which depends, is subsumed under the dharmāyatana. The life-faculty is also like this, and names and so forth are of the same kind. Length and so forth are not like this, so they are the same as the rūpāyatana.
