釋論解云：曾見色者，謂能持過去識受用義以顯界性；現見色者，謂能持現在識受用義以顯界性。
The explanatory treatise explains: "Matter previously seen" means capable of upholding the meaning of the past consciousness's enjoyment to reveal the nature of the dhātu; "matter presently seen" means capable of upholding the meaning of the present consciousness's enjoyment to reveal the nature of the dhātu.
