釋曰：由此種子能生二世現行眼根，眼根因故亦名眼界。故彼論云：故此二種名眼界者，眼生因故。二世眼種名為二種，因義名界，總以持、因二義名界。然《瑜伽論》五十六中，六義名界，恐繁不具，餘根准此。

Explanation: Because these seeds can produce the actual eye faculty of the two times, and because they are the causes of the eye faculty, they are also called the eye dhātu. Therefore, that treatise says: "Hence these two kinds are called the eye dhātu, because they are the cause of the eye's arising." The eye seeds of the two times are called the two kinds, and the meaning of "cause" is called dhātu; in general, it is named dhātu by the two meanings of "upholding" and "cause." However, in the Yogācārabhūmi, fascicle 56, it is named dhātu by six meanings; fearing verbosity, they are not detailed here. The remaining faculties should be understood accordingly.
