有義應作四句，有異熟非多，謂六識中業所感者，有間斷故不名為多；有多非異熟，謂第七識有覆性故。俱非即是六識之中非業招者，俱句第八，遮餘三句故說多言。

There is an interpretation that four alternatives should be made: There is what is vipāka but not predominant, namely what is impelled by karma among the six consciousnesses; because it is interrupted, it is not called predominant. There is what is predominant but not vipāka, namely the seventh consciousness, because of its obscured [nature]. The neither-nor refers to what is not karmically incurred among the six consciousnesses. The both-clause is the eighth [consciousness]. The word 'predominantly' is stated to exclude the other three clauses.
