即論說云：八識生者，答生何也？為因緣者，答如何生？名等流者，答起何果？下異熟果亦准此知。
That is, what the Treatise states: "produced from the eight consciousnesses" answers what is produced; "serving as the hetu-pratyaya" answers how it is produced; "called an outflow (niṣyanda)" answers what fruit is brought about. The fruition-fruit below should also be understood accordingly.
