3.167

色非能熏亦非能計，八復無執。此色相中又無種子，亦應第八不緣此相，以彼說言緣執種故。若言雖實而得緣色，且據種論言緣執習。既爾，何妨實緣三性種，且依染種說。

Form is neither that which can perfume nor that which can conceptualize, and the eighth [consciousness] furthermore lacks grasping. In this form-aspect there are also no seeds; thus the eighth [consciousness] should also not cognize this aspect, because they state that it cognizes the seeds of grasping. If it is said that although actual it can cognize form, and that it speaks of cognizing the grasping vāsanā merely with reference to seeds: if so, what prevents it from actually cognizing the seeds of the three natures, while speaking [only] in terms of defiled seeds?
