有威德者所起勝定，名威德定。此有兩釋：一云自在菩薩及二乘者所得之定，故《瑜伽》云：非是一切所有定心皆有能生此色功能，唯一類有，故知唯聖。二云亦通異生，依定久習得自在者，簡非自在，名一類有，亦無其失。前解為勝。

A superior concentration produced by one possessing majestic virtue is called 'meditative concentration of majestic virtue.' There are two interpretations of this: One says that it is the concentration attained by sovereign bodhisattvas and practitioners of the two vehicles; hence the *Yogācārabhūmi* says: 'It is not that all concentrated minds whatsoever possess the capacity to generate this form; only a single class possesses it.' Therefore we know it belongs solely to āryas. The second says that it also extends to ordinary beings; those who have attained sovereignty through long practice based on concentration are distinguished from the non-sovereign, and thus called 'a single class possesses it,' which is also without fault. The former interpretation is superior.
