變謂轉變，改易其質；化謂化現，無而忽有，佛定通力俱能為也。
'Transformation' means altering, changing its mūla-dharmin; 'apparition' means magical manifestation, suddenly existing from nonexistence. The Buddha's powers of meditative concentration and supernormal powers can accomplish both.
