釋曰：色界二色名為自在，一定心現，二自在定所感報色，無色但一定心所現。二界定色因自在定之所起故，名心自在微細性也。所引經者，傳釋但證色界報色，即淨居天名等心天，詣佛聽法一萬六千由旬之身，一一皆住毛端量地，猶如燈光不相障礙，又淨居上十地菩薩名等心天。

Explanation: Two kinds of form in the form realm are called 'sovereign': first, what is manifested by the concentrated mind; second, retribution form brought about by sovereign concentration. In the formless realm there is only one: what is manifested by the concentrated mind. Because the concentration-form of the two realms is produced by sovereign concentration, it is called 'the subtle nature of the mind's sovereignty.' Regarding the sūtra cited, traditional explanations hold that it only proves the retribution form of the form realm, namely the Śuddhāvāsa devas, who are called 'devas of equal mind'; when going to the Buddha to hear the Dharma, their bodies of sixteen thousand yojanas each dwell within a space the size of a hair-tip, like the light of lamps not obstructing each other. Furthermore, bodhisattvas of the ten stages above the Śuddhāvāsa are also called 'devas of equal mind.'
