《深密經》云：變化心者，無自依心有依他心。按《佛地論》第六釋云：「謂化心等依實心現，但實心上相分似有緣慮等心，如鏡中火無別自體。」此釋意云：無自所依，實見分心，名無自依。而有似慮，名有依他。又見、自證、證自證分名自依心，化心異彼，名無自依有依他心，同前可知。

The Saṃdhinirmocana-sūtra says: 'An emanated mind has no mind of its own reliance, but has a mind that relies on another.' According to the Buddhabhūmy-upadeśa, fascicle 6, it explains: 'It means that the emanated mind and so on appear in reliance upon the real mind, but on the real mind the nimitta-bhāga only seems to have a mind that cognizes and reflects, like fire in a mirror having no separate intrinsic nature.' The meaning of this explanation is: having no real darśana-bhāga mind of its own on which to rely is called 'having no mind of its own reliance'; yet having a semblance of reflection is called 'having [a mind that] relies on another.' Furthermore, the darśana-bhāga, svasaṃvitti-bhāga, and saṃvittisvasaṃvitti-bhāga are called the 'mind of its own reliance'; the emanated mind is distinct from these, and is called 'having no mind of its own reliance, but having a mind that relies on another.' It should be understood as identical with the preceding.
