答：如《樞要》、《義燈》等辨。有義云，因有二：一意施設，二言施設。有境像等相狀不同，意解施設差別名故。尋伺推度法義淺深，隨義隨機而起說故，想思惟名不起說故。有云：同是起言說因，但麁細異，故有差別。

Answer: It is analyzed as in the Shuyao, the Yideng, and so on. One opinion says there are two causes: first, mental establishment; second, verbal establishment. Because of differences in the aspects and images of objects, mental understanding establishes differentiated names. Because applied and sustained thought (vitarka-vicāra) deliberate on the shallowness or depth of doctrines and principles, giving rise to speech according to meanings and capacities, while ideation (saṃjñā) contemplates names without giving rise to speech. Another says: both are causes that give rise to verbal explanation, but they differ in grossness and subtlety, hence there is a difference.
