本種、新現俱為因緣生新熏種，此非正釋。本種望新，非因緣故。若據疎緣，理亦無失。

The innate seed and the new active [dharma] both serve as causal conditions to produce the newly perfumed seed; this is not the orthodox explanation. This is because the innate seed in relation to the new is not a causal condition. If based on remote conditions (adhipati-pratyaya), it is logically without fault.
