有說此中總有三喻，如次況彼，謂愛非愛、受用、自性三種緣起。初喻顯示由第八識五趣流轉，第二顯示生眼等識受用境界，第三顯示自性相續而不斷絕。

Some say that here there are altogether three metaphors, corresponding to the three kinds of dependent origination: agreeable and disagreeable, experiential enjoyment, and intrinsic nature. The first metaphor shows the transmigration through the five destinies by the eighth consciousness; the second shows the arising of the eye consciousness and so forth to experience and enjoy perceptual objects; the third shows the continuity of intrinsic nature without interruption.
