現取果時，生相生已方能取之。過既取果還須待生，方能取也。若許爾者，生復生失；若不許者，即現取果，應不待生，彼此異因不可得故。

When the present grasps the fruit, it can only grasp it after the characteristic of arising has arisen. Since the past grasps the fruit, it would also have to await arising before it could grasp it. If this is permitted, there is the fault of arising arising again; if it is not permitted, then the present grasping of the fruit should not await arising, because a distinct cause between the two cannot be found.
