答：後對自他，合為生滅；此唯望自，分為二時。後舉自他，為生滅二，隱自一法，二時不論；前唯舉自，一法二時。隱自他二，生滅不說，文影略也。

Answer: The latter is spoken with respect to self and other, combining them into arising and ceasing; this [former] is spoken solely with respect to itself, divided into two moments. The latter adduces self and other to constitute the two of arising and ceasing, concealing the single dharma of itself and not discussing the two moments; the former adduces solely itself, one dharma in two moments, concealing the two of self and other and not speaking of arising and ceasing—the text is an elliptical foreshortening.
