3.929

此《對法論》以無記心命終之文而為證也。或可即以此所引經而為證也。經云生、死必住散心，散心之言而目第六。若不爾者，第八元有，何勞更說？前說為本，順疏文也。若別為釋，後亦無違。

This uses the text of the Abhidharmasamuccaya-bhāṣya on dying with an indeterminate mind as proof. Or it may be that they precisely use the sūtra cited here as proof. The sūtra states that at birth and death one must abide in a distracted mind, and the words 'distracted mind' refer to the sixth consciousness. If it were not so, the eighth consciousness has been there from the origin, so why trouble to speak of it further? The former explanation is the primary one, conforming to the Commentary's text. If one offers a distinct explanation, the latter also does not contradict it.
