答：量云：初和合識定依染污；由能執持名色等故；猶如命根。由此依彼染污之言，於望論主自立即宗。若望破他，即是因也。

Answer: The syllogism is: 'The initial concordant consciousness definitely relies on defilement; because it can appropriate and sustain name-and-form and so forth; like the life-faculty.' Therefore, the statement 'relying on that defilement', with respect to the treatise master's own establishment, is precisely the thesis; if viewed with respect to refuting the other, it is the reason.
