答：若生報業，果未必遙；若後報業，果遠何感？如受非想八萬劫已後，方受彼人趣等報。報望昔因，隔八萬劫，豈匪遠耶？

Answer: If it is karma with fruition in the next life, the fruit is not necessarily remote; but if it is karma with fruition in subsequent lives, when the fruit is remote, how could it induce it? For example, only after experiencing eighty thousand kalpas in [the heaven of] neither-perception-nor-non-perception does one then experience retribution in human or other destinies. Looking back from the retribution to the past cause, they are separated by eighty thousand kalpas—is that not remote?
