《疏》主取彼明意，文意以為其句，非彼論中有此全語，故彼論中廣明其意而立理云：謂若不說有染污意，於一切時義不符順。《疏》云：無有即牒彼論不說有意，義即牒彼義不符順。心體第三，如前具引。

The master of the Commentary takes the intended meaning of that text clarifying manas as his phrasing; it is not that that treatise has this entire phrase verbatim. For in that treatise, in elaborating upon manas, it establishes the reasoning, saying: if one does not say there is a defiled manas, the meaning would not be consistent at all times. The Commentary's phrase 'there is no' refers back to that treatise's failure to state that there is manas; 'meaning' refers back to its being inconsistent in meaning. The third essence of citta was fully cited above.
