Treatise: The marks of the Great Being and the distinctive subsidiary marks are all called "marks"; such marks being free from the conceptually constructed nature is called "sameness." "Predominant power" means wealth and sovereignty; the various aggregates of form and so forth are individually not wealth and sovereignty, nor are they wealth and sovereignty when aggregated; being free from what is conceptually constructed is called "sameness." "Joy and love": through the power of conceptual construction, one generates joy toward phenomena that are compliant, and generates grief toward phenomena that are contrary; because the phenomena conceptually constructed do not exist, joy and love toward what is conceptually constructed are also non-existent, which is called "sameness." Comprehending such explained sameness of the nature of phenomena regarding all marks, predominant power, and joy and love is called "realizing." A bodhisattva of the first ground first realizes it, and on subsequent grounds, gradually through expedients, cultivates, harmonizes, and increases it, until on the final stage of Buddhahood it is fully perfected.
