4.402

論：慈有三種：謂有情、法及無緣慈。由此三種平等救濟一切有情，不同凡夫及二乘故，故名大慈。救度一切，長時積集，福慧成滿故，故名弘濟。如是所說弘濟大慈，遍一切處無差別轉，故名平等。弘濟大慈平等法性，為所緣故，就境說名平等法性。

Treatise: Loving-kindness is of three kinds: loving-kindness directed toward sentient beings, toward phenomena, and without an objective support. Because one equally succours all sentient beings through these three kinds, unlike ordinary beings and the two vehicles, it is called "great loving-kindness." Because one delivers all, accumulating [merit] over a long time, and bringing merit and wisdom to full completion, it is called "vast succour." Such explained great loving-kindness of vast succour operates everywhere without distinction, and is therefore called "sameness." Because this sameness of the nature of phenomena of great loving-kindness of vast succour serves as the object, it is spoken of as the "sameness of the nature of phenomena" in terms of the objective realm.
