答：有漏末那而有二義，一、隨依繫，緣彼依故；二、非六引，故與第六地不必同。無漏亦二，一、不繫故，而隨觀察通緣理事；二、由六引，故隨能依而同地也。

Answer: Contaminated manas has two meanings: first, it is bound according to its support, because it takes that support as object; second, it is not induced by the sixth, and therefore need not be of the same plane as the sixth. The uncontaminated also has two meanings: first, because it is not bound, following contemplation it takes both principle and factual events as object universally; second, because it is induced by the sixth, it is of the same plane as the consciousness that depends on it.
