答：為遮外難故對六明，恐有難云：第七貪等既不與六慢等相應，應名不共，故今對顯。二云此者，此六識也。疏「不」字誤也，應為「亦」字。此六識貪亦與六識慢等俱者，或名相應。

Answer: To ward off external objections, it is clarified in contrast to the six. Fearing someone might object: 'Since the craving and so forth of the seventh are not associated with the conceit and so forth of the six, they should be named unshared,' it is now clarified in contrast to them. The second [explanation] says: 'This' refers to these six consciousnesses. The character 'not' (不) in the Commentary is an error; it should be the character 'also' (亦). If the craving of these six consciousnesses also occurs together with the conceit and so forth of the six consciousnesses, it may be named associated.
