答：意具思量、依止二義，而現在識雖未起用為依生識，然住意性亦得意名。不據思量現名為意，故亦無過。

Answer: Manas possesses the two meanings of cogitation and support; and while the present consciousness has not yet exerted its function to serve as a support to generate consciousness, nevertheless, abiding in the nature of manas, it also receives the name manas. It is not in terms of cogitation that the present is named manas, so there is also no fault.
