按彼第一云：云何眼識自性？謂依眼了別色。彼所依者，俱有依謂眼等，無間依謂意，種子依謂即此一切種子執受所依所攝阿賴耶識，乃至意識亦復如是。又云：「俱有、相應一一而轉，又彼一切各各從自種子而生。」

Checking the first fascicle of that work, it states: 'What is the intrinsic nature of the eye-consciousness? It means cognizing form based on the eye. As for its bases: the simultaneous basis refers to the eye and so forth; the immediately preceding basis refers to the manas; the seed basis refers to this very ālaya-consciousness, which is subsumed under the basis that is appropriated containing all seeds; up to the mental consciousness, it is also like this.' It also states: 'The simultaneous and associated [factors] each function individually, and all of them each arise from their own seeds.'
