4.725

釋曰：隨意引生隨意善染五淨垢轉，五識但隨發業意轉，自非轉也。轉謂發起，即因等起發業心也。隨轉謂隨前之轉業勢力而生，即剎那等起。

The Explanation states: Being induced and generated in accordance with the mind, the five turn with the purity and defilement of the mind's wholesome and defiled states; the five consciousnesses merely turn in accordance with the mind that initiates karma, and are not themselves the instigators. 'Activating' means initiating, which is the mind that initiates karma as the remote cause (hetusamutthāna). 'Following the activation' means arising in accordance with the force of the preceding karma-activating mind, which is the immediate co-arising cause (kṣaṇasamutthāna).
