5.10

按彼頌云：「依多境了別，各為自業生，心法不應思，相似境轉故。」論曰：心所有法依止，能緣多境八種識故，各各造作自業而起，依心而有故名心所有法。不應更思彼所緣境，由彼與識等緣轉故。

According to that verse, it states: "Depending on the cognition of multiple objects, / each arises performing its own function; / the mental dharmas should not be deliberated upon, / because they operate on similar objects." The treatise states: Mental dharmas rely upon the eight kinds of consciousness that can cognize multiple objects, and arise each performing their own activity; existing in dependence on the mind, they are therefore called mental dharmas. One should not further deliberate upon their cognized objects, because they operate on equal objects together with the consciousness.
