答：異地不爾，同地容起，未至亦是初禪攝故。又，下地身得初根本，起未至惑亦復無違。二、不得起，無所須故，得勝捨劣故。

Answer: This is not so for different stages, but in the same stage they may arise, because the threshold [concentration] is also subsumed under the first dhyāna. Furthermore, when the body of a lower stage attains the first fundamental [dhyāna], giving rise to threshold afflictions is also without contradiction. Second, they cannot arise, because there is no need for them, and because having attained the superior one abandons the inferior.
