6.17

有義：然說取色必藉明者，依闇所障瓶瓦等說，理實暗色眼亦能見；又夜行類不藉明生，水行之類不待空發；又於瑠璃、頗眤迦等障色之中亦不藉空，天眼發識空、明不藉。

A certain opinion says: 'However, saying that apprehending form must depend on light is stated in terms of vases, potsherds, and the like that are obstructed by darkness. In truth, the eye is also able to see dark form; moreover, nocturnal creatures do not depend on light to arise, and aquatic creatures do not wait for space to produce [sight]; furthermore, within obstructed form such as lapis lazuli and sphāṭika, space is also not depended upon, and when the divine eye gives rise to consciousness, it depends on neither space nor light.'
