顯得無漏根名所以，或釋外難。外難意云：三根無漏，資糧、加行何得名為未知當知？故以引生遠資等釋。

This clarifies the reason for acquiring the name of an untainted faculty, or it resolves an external objection. The external objection means: The three faculties are untainted; how can [the stages of] accumulation and preparation be called 'the faculty of having not yet known what is to be known' (anājñātamājñāsyāmīndriya)? Therefore, it is explained by direct induction, distant provisioning, and so forth.
