答：決擇分善通依色界本地、近分。近分起者既未離欲得有憂「根」，固無有失。故按《對法》第十，本論說云「未知欲知根」者，謂於方便道及於見道十五心剎那所有諸根。釋論云：諸根者，謂意根、信等五根，由未至定等地所依差別故，如其所應有樂、喜、憂、捨。

Answer: Wholesome roots belonging to the aids to penetration (nirvedhabhāgīya) are based commonly on the fundamental absorption and the preliminary stage (sāmantaka) of the form realm. Since those arising in the preliminary stage have not yet departed from desire, they can possess the faculty of grief, so there is certainly no fault. Therefore, according to the Abhidharmasamuccaya-bhāṣya, fascicle 10, the root treatise states: 'The faculty of having not yet known what is to be known refers to all faculties in the stage of expedient application (prayogamārga) and in the fifteen mind-moments of the path of seeing (darśanamārga).' The commentary explains: 'All faculties refers to the mind faculty and the five faculties of faith and so forth; due to the distinction of bases such as the threshold concentration (anāgamya-samādhi), there are accordingly pleasure, joy, grief, and equanimity.'
