There are briefly two explanations: The first says: "yi" and "yu" are both the seventh case ending. The Commentary's words "zhe" and "yi" are auxiliary words; it does not say that "yi-zhe" is the meaning of that "yu." If "yi" were the meaning of "yu," how could one say "both have the seventh case ending"? Because the substance is not dual, one cannot say "both." The second says: "yi" and "yu" have sameness and difference. Just as with "faculties" and "objects," "yi" and "yu" are not the same; stating "relying on (yi) the basis of speech, the conventional cause is established," "relying on (yi)" is precisely the meaning of "in (yu)"; now, relying on that cause, it is called "relying on in its meaning" (yi yu yi); with respect to the terms "yi" and "yu," it says they both have the seventh [case ending]. One should consider this further.
