答：《疏》前正解士用處中而作法云：「如眼根等生眼識等，名法士用。」所以知也。若不爾者，豈《疏》前後不逾數紙即自𭿺𥍿，故定脫略，既加根依合十二處。有義，十三，加境界處。

Answer: Earlier, when properly explaining the basis of personal action, the Commentary constructed the model, saying: 'Like the eye faculty and so forth producing the eye consciousness and so forth, this is termed phenomenal personal action.' This is how it is known. If it were not so, how could the Commentary contradict itself within no more than a few pages? Therefore it was definitely an omission. Having added the basis of faculties, there are twelve bases in all. Another opinion adds the basis of perceptual objects (viṣaya-sthāna), making thirteen.
