非但不得成親所緣，疎亦不得亦彼親也。又《疎》云：見與相分不相似故者，釋不得為疎所緣所以，夫親緣體似疎緣故，如相分色似質色也。

Not only can it not become an immediate cognitive object, but it cannot be a distant one either, because it is immediate to that [other]. Furthermore, the Commentary states: 'Because the darśana- and nimitta-bhāgas do not resemble each other'—this explains the reason why it cannot serve as a distant cognitive object. For the substance of an immediate condition resembles the distant condition, just as the form of the nimitta-bhāga resembles the form of the mūla-dharmin.
