Answer: Yet there are never two mental kings at one time; how could the mental king have a relying agent and an object of reliance? Since two mental kings—one relying and one relied upon—do not exist, there is only one mind taking as object the cognitive object resembling mind, while the simultaneous mental concomitants transform mind into a mūla-dharmin. Since the mūla-dharmin and the resemblance are different, how could the king and concomitants have the same cognitive object? If one terms them 'identical' based on resemblance, though in principle it may be so, yet the basic Treatise names identity based on the mūla-dharmin; therefore, based on the darśana taking itself as object and being called identical through resemblance, this is called superior in meaning, but because the mūla-dharmins are different, it is said to be difficult to understand.
