過去行支所熏識種名為因識，因識能生於母胎中初結生識。結生識者即是果識，果識相續而能任持羯羅藍位諸名色等，乃至命終持令不絕。

The consciousness-seed perfumed by the past link of volitional formations is called the causal consciousness. The causal consciousness is able to produce the consciousness that initially links to rebirth in the mother's womb. The consciousness linking to rebirth is precisely the resultant consciousness. The resultant consciousness continues and is able to sustain the name-and-form and so forth at the stage of the kalala, sustaining them without interruption up to the end of life.
