答：識若第八，第八能持諸種子故，後際種子可為隨逐。中際之種若非賴耶，何有種子言相隨逐前引後耶？

Answer: If the consciousness is the eighth, since the eighth can hold all seeds, the seeds of the subsequent period may be said to pursue it. If the seeds of the intermediate period were not the ālaya, how could seeds be spoken of as pursuing one another, with the prior projecting the subsequent?
