按彼論云：「眼識云何？謂於當來依止眼根了別色境識，所有福、非福、不動行所熏發種子識，及彼種子所生果識；如眼識，如是乃至意識應知亦爾。」

According to that treatise: "What is eye-consciousness? It refers to the consciousness that, in the future, relies upon the eye sense base to distinguish visual forms; the consciousness-seed perfumed and initiated by all its meritorious, non-meritorious, and immovable volitional formations; and the resultant consciousness produced by those seeds. As with eye-consciousness, so it should be known likewise up to mental consciousness."
