7.230

思、修二惠是能入具，此具能現似法、似義，及能有入所知法義之功能故，故名為「用」。此具及用必待能執，彼具假者，具方有用。由此前明思、修具已，故今次問能執作者。

The two wisdoms of reflection and cultivation are the instruments capable of entering. Because these instruments can manifest the semblance of dharmas and the semblance of meanings, and have the efficacy of being able to enter into the known dharmas and meanings, they are called 'function.' These instruments and function necessarily depend on a designated agent capable of wielding those instruments before the instruments have function. Therefore, having previously clarified the instruments of reflection and cultivation, it now next asks about the agent capable of wielding them.
