問：《楞伽經》云：焚燒一切善根闡提許得成佛，《涅槃經》中其義亦爾。豈後成佛，先無種姓？種姓既有，云何斷善？經、論何違？

Question: The Laṅkāvatāra-sūtra states: An icchantika who has burned all wholesome roots is permitted to attain buddhahood; in the Nirvāṇa-sūtra, its meaning is also like this. Could it be that if one attains buddhahood later, one previously lacked the gotra? Since the gotra exists, how could one sever the wholesome [roots]? How do the sūtras and treatise contradict each other?
