《無性釋》云：應知唯一補特伽羅，位差別故，建立五種，如預流等。餘文如《疏》。而有釋云：從初方便至初地為第一，從二地至四地為第二，從五至六為第三，七為第四，八至十地為第五。初地乃屬初劫攝故。

The Commentary by Asabhāva states: "It should be understood that there is only one individual (pudgala), but due to differences in stages, five kinds are established, like the stream-enterer and so on." The rest of the text is as in the Commentary. However, some explain: from initial expedient means to the first bhūmi is the first; from the second bhūmi to the fourth bhūmi is the second; from the fifth to the sixth is the third; the seventh is the fourth; and from the eighth to the tenth bhūmi is the fifth. This is because the first bhūmi is subsumed within the first aeon (kalpa).
