用別有二：一、現行用別；二、種子用別，有障菩提、涅槃用故。前解為本，後理亦通。

Distinct functions are of two kinds: first, distinct functions in active manifestation; second, distinct functions in seeds, because they have the functions of hindering bodhi and nirvāṇa. The former explanation is the primary one, but the latter principle also holds.
