Furthermore, according to the Mañjuśrī-paripṛcchā-sūtra, its characteristics are explained in full; here we cite them in brief: If, in one's mind, one conceptually discriminates humans from non-humans, men from non-men, etc.; or if one receives the transworldly bodhisattva precepts but does not give rise to a mind of loving-kindness and compassion; or if one conceives the notion of stealing another's property; or if one gives rise to a mind of false speech—all of these constitute an offense of pārājika. If carried out with bodily or vocal action, one will be incapable of attaining the three vehicles. Furthermore, if one's mind desires to take leaves, bark, or sap from trees; or if one conceives the notion of singing, dancing, making music, flowers, perfumes, and garlands; or if one conceives the notion of a high, broad bed; or if one conceives the notion of holding gold, silver, and precious gems—all of these are a bodhisattva's saṃghāvaśeṣa. If carried out with bodily or vocal action, one will be incapable of attaining the three vehicles. Furthermore, if one shaves bodily hair; or if one trims fingernails into a crescent shape, or conceives such a thought; or if one conceives the thought of cutting down grasses and trees; or if one conceives the thought of defaming another's reputation, etc.—all of these constitute a thullaccaya. If carried out with bodily or vocal action, one will be incapable of attaining the three vehicles. Furthermore, if one tramples with one's feet upon flowers, perfumes, clothing, or jewels belonging to the Buddha, Dharma, or Saṃgha; or if one tramples with one's feet upon a stūpa of the Buddha, places where the Buddha walked, the Bodhi tree, or the place where the wheel of Dharma was turned—all of these constitute a pāyattika. If one lacks faith, one is incapable of attaining the three vehicles. Furthermore, if one sticks out the tongue, rolls the eyes, or breaches deportment, anyone who gives rise to the intention to commit these incurs a dukkaṭa. If carried out with bodily or vocal action, one will be incapable of attaining the three vehicles. Furthermore, if upon seeing another's property, another's pleasure, and various clothes and playthings, one deceitfully displays oneself to seek profit or speaks of another's transgressions, giving rise to this thought constitutes a pātidesanīya. If carried out with bodily or vocal action, one will be incapable of attaining the three vehicles.
