According to that treatise: First, the difficult practice of self-vow, because of vowing to receive the aspiration for unexcelled awakening; second, the difficult practice of non-regression, because the manifold sufferings of saṃsāra cannot make one regress; third, the difficult practice of non-abandonment, because even though all sentient beings practice perverse conduct, one does not abandon them; fourth, the difficult practice of manifest presence, because one manifestly performs all beneficial deeds toward hostile sentient beings; fifth, the difficult practice of non-defilement, because being born in the world, one is not defiled by worldly dharmas; sixth, the difficult practice of resolute faith, because of generating deep conviction and understanding in the Mahāyāna; seventh, the difficult practice of penetration, because of being fully able to penetrate the selflessness of persons and dharmas; eighth, the difficult practice of following realization, because of being able to follow and realize the extremely profound and secret words spoken by all Tathāgatas; ninth, the difficult practice of non-separation and non-defilement, because of not relinquishing saṃsāra yet remaining undefiled; tenth, the difficult practice of preparation, because of being able to cultivate the peaceful dwelling and liberation of all Buddhas, without exertion across the limits of saṃsāra regarding all obstacles, constantly initiating actions that bring about all welfare and benefit for all sentient beings.
