有義彈《疏》，而自釋云：今說通釋煩惱、所知六識俱者漸斷所以，如前第七雙釋二障頓斷所由，故知此文合解二障漸斷所以。不爾，煩惱如何不釋？

One opinion criticizes the Commentary and interprets it on its own, saying: It now speaks generally to explain the reason why both afflictive and cognitive [obstacles] associated with the six consciousnesses are gradually severed. Just as the preceding seventh [consciousness] jointly explained the reason why the two obstacles are severed suddenly, one knows that this text combines the explanation of the reason why the two obstacles are gradually severed. Otherwise, why would it not explain the afflictive [obstacle]?
