此難初釋：何故因八緣於定色，定色引故，所變即屬法處定色，五識亦緣定色為質，所變即非法處色收？

This objects to the first explanation: Why is it that, because the eighth [consciousness] in the causal stage takes samādhi-matter as an object and is induced by samādhi-matter, that which it manifests belongs to samādhi-matter of the dharma-āyatana, whereas the five consciousnesses also take samādhi-matter as their objective support, yet that which they manifest is not subsumed under matter of the dharma-āyatana?
