Commentary: Below is the third [section], explaining the fourth objection. Within it there are two [parts]: first, direct explanation; afterwards, conclusion. This is the first. The words "as in a dream" are as stated previously. For instance, in a dream, when dreaming of sexual intercourse, although the object is unreal, a man has the loss of semen and a woman has the loss of blood and other efficacies. "And so forth" includes efficacies such as bodily fatigue and sweating. In a dream of gaining money and so forth, that efficacy is absent. Although the object is unreal, what is seen by someone with cataracts, such as hairs, lacks the efficacy of hairs and so forth, while what is seen by others as hairs has the efficacy of hairs and so forth; this principle is also established. The inference says: "What is seen by those with cataracts and those without cataracts, such as hairs, is established as having efficacy or lacking efficacy; because it is accepted that there is no real object; like the loss of semen in a dream."
