述曰：其獄卒等，生地獄時，不受地獄器所生苦，云何與彼天傍生同？前他立因，既能成彼餘趣生地獄，如是亦能成獄卒等，受地獄中器所生苦。量云：其獄卒等應受所居外器生果；許善惡趣隨一攝故；如上天中有傍生等。此中簡略，應須審知。此釋頌中下之三句。

The Commentary says: When those hell-wardens and the like are born in hell, they do not experience the suffering produced by the receptacle of hell; how then could they be identical with those animals in heaven? Since the earlier thesis and reason established by the opponent were able to establish that beings of other destinies are born in hell, they are likewise able to establish that the hell-wardens and the like experience the suffering produced by the receptacle in hell. The formal inference is as follows: The hell-wardens and the like ought to experience the result produced by the external receptacle where they reside; because they are admitted to be included under either a good or a bad destiny; just like the animals and so forth among the heavens above. The qualifiers here are abbreviated and must be carefully understood. This explains the lower three lines of the verse.
