破初有執，有內識一心，遣後空見，故今此論，正處中道，是第三時，勝義教也。如《解深密》、《瑜伽》等說。先時所說一時、五時，皆無經教，不可依也，如別章中已廣敘說。

Refuting the initial grasping at existence, it affirms that there is the one mind of internal consciousness, thereby dispelling the later view of emptiness. Therefore, the present treatise stands squarely in the middle path, being the definitive teaching of the third period, as explained in texts such as the Saṃdhinirmocana and Yogācārabhūmi. The single-period or five-period teachings spoken of previously are all without scriptural basis and cannot be relied upon, as has already been broadly expounded in a separate chapter.
