言比量者，比附量度，名為比量，即以眾相而觀於義，緣此義智，名為比量。
Regarding 'inference' (anumāna): to measure by comparison and analogy is called inference; that is, observing the meaning by means of multiple characteristics, the cognition that takes this meaning as its object is called inference.
